Black String Bikinis

What could have a more classic and elegant look other than black string bikinis? Providing minimal breast, crotch, and butt coverage with the elegance and sexiness of black fabric, this type of two-piece swimsuit is among the favorites in swimwear fashion.  And with the combination of black’s charm and the string bikini’s style and popularity, this swimwear design would most likely be on the bikini hit list for ages.

All about strings

String bikinis are composed of four small fabric pieces intended to cover the crotch area, the buttocks, and the breasts.  Held together by thin strings that are usually tied around the neck and at the back for tops and on the sides for bottoms, they provide classic swimwear revelation.

String bikinis were first seen in Rio de Janeiro’s Brazilian beaches in the 1960s and 1970s.  They were introduced into the American market in 1974, and from then on enjoyed incredible patronage and popularity.  For the record, a boutique in Madison Avenue ordered 160 piecs of this swimwear and managed to sell them all out in two days.  Manhattan’s Bloomingdale also enjoyed a similar feat, managing to exhaust its 150 strings supply to consumers in a matter of two weeks.

Is a string bikini appropriate for you?

In deciding whether string bikini is the right type of bikini for you or not, there are some considerations that you have to ponder on like how much do you intend to reveal, or to what extent do you intend to be daring? This swimsuit is really designed to reveal a lot of skin, with its skimpy fabric covering and tiny strings for holding the fabrics in place.  If you are not in for that much skin revealing, then opt for one-piece bathing suits or tankinis (tight fitting tank tops paired with regular bikini bottoms).

Also, consider your body type or body size.  These bikinis usually work best on slender bodies.  People with other body types might find out that this swimsuit design is not appropriate for them.  Also, its sizes are usually up to a certain size only.  If the strings get too tight, they could cause cuts and other marks on your skin.  Needless to say, they work best on women who do not need too much support for their busts.  There are tops with underwire to help enhance the breasts’ form and size.  Those who have larger bust sizes can opt for halter tops or other bikini styles.
